Learning Objective/Intention + Success Criteria

The Process

Equipment Needed: iPad with iMovie installed, Green Screen (you can use a sheet of green butcher paper or green fabric), A learner created script (you can use the attached example as a template)

Hint: Things like Trimming and aligning clips as well as editing masks will be important in making the finished product look as believable as possible.

Step 1:You will film four separate videos the template lists them as Part A, Part B Layer 1, Part B Layer 2 and Part C

Step 2: Combine Part B Layer 1 and 2 into one scene using iMovie. (Fuse these two scenes together using the Everyone Can Create Project Create Green-Screen Effects)

Step 3: Once you have Section B set up to your liking, Check out how to create editing effects in the Everyone Can Create Project Create Editing Effects). You will add the Part A and C to the mix to create desired pop-in/pop-out. effect. See the final layout below.

Using the direction in the attached script template you will film 4 scenes. This layout will be how the final product is organized in iMovie.

Reflection

This can give students a fun way to learn some of the basics of video production while reinforcing prioritization of student wellness. Depending on the level of learners you are working with different strategies could be used. Partners and providing frequent coaching can be beneficial for early learners. A great way to assess could be showcasing and discussing the videos and their impact in a class viewing party.

Loved seeing two of you Chuck! What a great way to practice self encouragement (and video editing as well!). Thanks for the “how to” visuals. Makes replicating this activity easy!
